Britney
Spears:
Over
the past few years many people have seen the pop music
princess Britney Spears transform from a young teeny booper
pop star to a sexy young sultry woman of pop music. However,
Brintney's stardom was not quite a simple over night success
into the star we know now. Britney actually began her
music career at a very young age, she began singing in
the church choir when she was a very young girl, then
later went on a few weeks stint on the popular show of
the early 90's Star search.
She then went on to audition for the Disney children's
show "The New Mickey Mouse Club" but didn't
make it as a cast member because of her young age. However,
one of the shows producers saw a lot of potential and
talent in Britney and helped her get set up with a talent
agent in New York.
She
spent her summers in New York studying at the Off Broadway
Dance Center and at the Professional Performing Arts School.
She then went on to doing off-Broadway shows and appearing
in commercials for the next 3 years.
Even
though Britney loved what she had accomplished so far
with her off broadways shows and commercials, she still
had the itch for being a Mouseketeer for the Mickey Mouse
Club, so three years later when of age to become a Mousekteer,
Britney went back to Disney and landed a spot as a Mouseketeer
joining the cast at age 11. While on the show Britney
was not the only young talented pop star in the makings,
she was one of many young stars to come out of the Mickey
Mouse Club that would later make a teen pop star career.
One of the other huge talented cast members was Christina
Aguilera who was also on the mouseketeer cast at the same
time as Britney.
The
show lasted for two years after Britney join before it
was canceled, her family then moved from Orlando Florida
back to her home town in Kentwood where Britney began
highschool. Britney spent one year in Highschool as a
normal 14 year old teen. However, she still wanted to
follow her dreams, so she went back to New York to chase
her dreams as a singing star that she had once chased
almost 10 years prior.
It
was on Britney second time around to the big apple when
a music executive heard a demo tape of Britney, that her
dreams came true when she landed a deal and was signed
to the major record label Jive Records. Britney worked
with a producer on her first album who had previously
worked with mega-diva artist Whitney Houston.
In
1999 Britney debut her first album titled Baby One More
Time. This was the album that launched Britney into teen
pop stardom. The album was a huge success, it had her
one her most popular songs to date " Hit me baby
one more time." The album has sold over 20 million
copies, held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts, and
won 1999 MTV Europe Awards for Best Female Artist, Best
Breakthrough Artist, and Best Pop Artist.
Her
second album titled "Oops!...I Did It Again "
released in 2000, once again had hit singles such as Oops!...I
Did It Again,Stronger, Lucky, and Don't Let Me Be The
Last To Know.
In
2001 Britney went on to further her career, she co-hosted
the American Music Awards, performed with Aero Smith at
the superbowl, and then went on to signed a multimillion-dollar
endorsement deal with Pepsi. Later
on that year Britney release her third album titled "Crossroads,"
and like her previous albums, this CD spawned hits such
as Slave 4 U and I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman.
Britney
had a busy year in 2002, she went on to appear on the
big screen in a film titled "Crossroads," host
and performer on Saturday Night Live, had a cameo in Austin
Powers in Goldmember, and started up a restaurant in New
York called Nyla, which has since then closed.
Britney
went on to release her 3rd album titled "In The Zone"
in November of 2003. Her latest album My Prerogative is
a compilation of her greatest hits, the cd was released
last November of 2004 and is still currently going strong
on the music charts.
We
have seen Britney grow up so fast over the span of her
career, She took a much different approach than the first
pop music princess, Debbie Gibson from back in the late
80's. Britney has been the sexy music video school girl,
appeared almost naked in a performance at the 2000 MTV
Video Music Awards, and followed that up a few years later
when at the VMA's when she kissed Madonna on stage dressed
in a sexy outfit along side with Christina Aguilera which
launched a media frenzy.
Britney
had been on countless magazine covers throughout her career,
along with her music, two books written with her mother,
videos, her movie and television appearances, and her
public life and breakup with pop star Justin Timberlake.
Britney
has accomplish so much in her young career and still has
many projects in the works.Few people may shy away to
think of Britney as a positive role-model because of her
sex-apeal, but she is growing up in front of the public
eye, and trying to shed her cutesy bubble gum girly image
while still trying to stay true to her self.
In
trying to shed that cutesy image, Britney is still growing
up, she has gotten married this past year and has just
had her first child a few weeks ago this past September.
