This
mega supermodel music diva was born in Jackson, Mississippi.
It was in her younger years while growing up in the small
town of Star, Mississippi that Faith starting singing
at fairs, family gatherings and local events.
When
Faith graduated from high school she gave college a try
but her heart was in music so at the age of 19 her father
loaded up his truck with Faith's belongings and headed
for Nashville. She moved to Nashville in 1989, not knowing
much at all about the music business. The only thing she
knew was what she felt in her heart, the love of singing.
Just
a young girl in a new town, Faith knew she would have
to get involved in music scene somehow,her first job was
selling t-shirts at the Country Music Fan Fair. She then
went on to working as a secretary for music publisher
Gary Morris. One day Faith was softly singing to herself
at her desk when a writer that worked at the music company
caught Faith singing in the office. The writer convinced
Faith to make a demo song. Her boss Gary Morris eventually
heard the demo song and encouraged Faith to pursue a singing
career. It was at a local club while singing back up for
someone that a representative of Warner Brothers Records
noticed Faith's talent. She was eventually signed to a
record deal and released her first album Take me as
I Am in 1993. The album was a huge success and spawned
two number hits "Wild One" and "Piece of
My Heart."
Faith
has gone on to release a total of 5 albums since 1993.
In 1994 she received the Academy of Country Music Award
for Favorite New Female Artist. However it was a single
titled "This Kiss" from Faith's 3rd album that
would change the face of country music. Faith was already
a huge success in country music world but the single "This
Kiss" launched Faith in to a superstar. The single
was played on country music stations as well on pop music
and adult contemporary music stations around the world.
Faith started a whole new sound of traditional country
music, her music was a cross-over success and people that
listen to rock and pop music where now listening to Faith.
This new sound of country music had many other country
music artist trying to cross-over to country-pop. Faith's
fourth CD titled Breathe released the single "Breathe,"
this single was not only played on country and popstations
but not was a huge success in re-mixed versions that where
played in dance and rave clubs. BREATHE, debuted at #1
on Billboard's Top Album Chart and has sold 10 million
copies worldwide. Her newest album Cry was released November
of 2002 and is still on top of the charts with number
on hits on the CD.
She
has sold over 25 million records worldwide and has garnered
ten #1 singles and eleven #1 videos. She
has received countless awards and nominations from the
American Music Awards, Grammy Awards,The CMA's, the ACM's,
and People's Choice Awards. She has sang the Oscar nominated
track from Pearl Harbor, "There You'll Be." She performed
at SuperBowl XXXIV, VH1 Divas 1999 and 2000, The Grammy
Awards, two times at Academy Awards, and America: A Tribute
To Heroes, to raise money to benefit the rescue workers
and victims of the September 11th.
All
of faith's success doesn't stop there with her music career,
the fashion and beauty industry have also taken notice
to Faith flare for style and radiate beauty, and over
the past years Faith has been on the covers of and in
editorials of countless fashion magazines including people
magazines 50th most beautiful people.
All
of that and while being a covergirl cosmetics spokesmodel,
married to country music star Tim McGraw, while last year
just having her 3rd child, and releasing her new CD Cry
, so when it comes down to who is Faith Hill ? She's still
