Christy Turlington:
Christy
Turlington, at a young age had a passion for horses and
horseback riding. It was during her early teen years, while
horseback riding that a photographer took notice of Christy's
beauty and took a few photos of her.
Thinking nothing of it, Christy thought she'll give modeling
a try and the photos were sent to a local modeling agency.
She soon began working for the local agency and not long
after people in the fashion industry where demanding Christy
for their photo shoots.
As news of Christy's popularity continued to grow, it
wasn't long before word reached the big time fashion industry
in New York. Then Christy was soon offered a job from
Eileen Ford (modeling's top scout). Eileen Ford then had
Christy off to Europe and back to New York working for
the top
fashion magazines
and photographers in the world.
Even after appearances
for Vogue magazine in the states, Christy still returned
to high school to complete her education before continuing
her career as a model. Then in 1987 Christy landed the
cover for Italian Vogue and that's when the World started
to take notice.
By 1989, Christy was then a part of the elite group of
models know as "supermodel." Christy is one of the original
supermodels from the era of names such as Cindy Crawford,
Stephanie Seymour, Niki Taylor, Niomi , and Linda Evangelista.
This was a time when supermodels worked the runways, bling
blinged in magazines, and shined on television screens.
Hey, remember the old school George Michael music video
freedom ? Those where the days of the real supermodels,
and Christy was a huge part of the supermodel explosion.
And now years later she has no sign of slowing down.
After leaving the runway in 1994, she went
on to complete her undergraduate education at New York
University with a major in philosophy and comparative
religion. She then went on to graduated Cum Laude in the
spring of 1999 from New York University where she earned
a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Christy has been
a
maybelline cosmetics
model for years, but has recently
launch her own company of skin care products called
SUNDÃRI
. And in the Fall of 2000
she launch her own yoga clothing line
NUALA .
Through Christy's company
Turly, Inc. and the Christy Turlington Foundation, she
supports various causes close to her heart, women's issues,
children's organizations and environmental causes just
to name a few.
